Dr. Niguss Baraki

Dr. Niguss Baraki works in the Stone Age Archaeology Research Laboratory. His research explores the origins of stone tool technology and the evolutionary mechanisms deriving its emergence. He particularly focuses on the coevolutionary dynamics of behavior and morphology in Plio-Pleistocene hominins, investigating how technological innovations reflect and influence paleobiological changes or vice versa. He is also interested in investigating how shifts in the environment may have influenced the emergence and evolution of stone tool making behaviors. Field and lab work in East African sites will provide critical data about these research topics.
